The Past Few Days

I have seemed to have taken a break from the computer. I have been spending a lot of quality time with my family along with my little bean. I spent the past 4 days at my mom’s house. We even spent the night over there, it was almost like a mini-vacation. In the mean time my mom is also a caregiver to a wonderful lady, Bernice. She is a very sweet lady and was very generous to my mom and our family, well she finally passed away on April 22, 2010 at 8:02pm. The past month she had gone down quite a bit, she knew she was though as she told my mom to get everything taken care of and done to the house before she was gone. The past week she just completely stopped eating and drinking, and tonight her breathing became very odd and she was unresponsive. Hospice had came in and told my mom she wouldn’t last through the night, well a few minutes later, she finally passed. I received the phone call while at dinner of all places, so my husband and I left, found someone to watch Delilah, and headed straight over. Our entire family was there to support my mom and one another, and thankfully my mom seemed relieved. Bernice was no longer in any pain and she was now somewhere peacefully, and pain-free. My mom was giving her morphine every few hours, she had started developing spots on her feet and ankles to where the skin was decomposing. I am relieved myself to know she is no longer in pain, to know that my mom can stop worrying now, and also to know that Bernice set my mom up for life to where she never has to work again.
I am grateful that our family, once again, has shown through to be a true family and is there for one another in this time of need and time to grieve. I am thankful for the family I have even though some days, weeks, months are rougher than others.

Game Day Recipe: Make Your Own Italian Sub Boats #OEPBigGame

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Walmart/Old El Paso. All opinions are those of our own. Game Day is just around the corner and I recently was perusing around Walmart looking for ideas for recipes for the Big Game. I'm a huge fan of Old El Paso products, and I have used them for years.
