Barn Stars!

We recently moved to MS and I have always wanted to decorate with an Americana Country theme, so I am pursuing that! I recently purchased 3 red, white, and blue barn stars at Michaels on clearance for a whopping 79 cents a piece. I wanted them a color to actually blend in and not stick out, so I thought about decopauging them, which I actually started to do, but everything I did went wrong, it was just a bad day in general. I threw in the towel and just decided I would paint them for now, I can change them later if I would like.

Here is the beginning product:

I bought some chocolate brown acrylic paint (99 cents), sanded the stars a bit, and painted 3 coats on them, each coat I let dry in between. After they were done I didn’t really care for the color, in case you don’t know (which I’m not sure why I didn’t) but, chocolate brown has a reddish tint to it. I then bought a dark brown/black ($1.19) and outlined them on all edges with a little bit of the paint using only my fingers.
I am definitely happy with the finished product now 🙂

Total cost of the project was around $4, and now I am kicking myself for not buying all of the stars! Happy decorating!
