Recalls: Are any products safe now days?

There have been so many recalls lately on baby products. CPSC has issued recalls on millions of Drop Side Cribs, then there was a recall on Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl, and Zyrtec, and just this week there was a recall on 45,000 Karino Pacifiers. I am really beginning to think that nothing is safe. How do all these products get on the market without going meeting some sort of standards? Who is passing these products through saying that they are safe?
I have had to throw out some of our tylenol and motrin, and have switched to generic products. Fortunately our crib is not a drop side crib, our Baby’s Dream Generation Next crib has a drop gate, which is just a rail that folds down. Luckily we didn’t have the brand of pacifiers that were recalled either. I am just wondering what recall is coming next??
