Recipe: Crock Pot Pork Roast

I’ve been tired of the same food lately and really wanted to try a pork roast in the crock pot. I found a recipe that sounded VERY good and I made it today. It tastes SOOOO good, I will be making it again.

* 2 large onions, halved, sliced
* 1 boneless pork shoulder roast (I used a 3lb roast)
* Salt and pepper
* 1 jar (12 ounces) apple jelly
* 1/2 cup chicken broth or water (I used water)
* 2 tablespoons grainy mustard (I used a Creole mustard)

Arrange onion slices in the bottom of a large slow cooker.
Wash the roast and pat dry; leave it in its netting and place on the onions.
Combine remaining ingredients in a cup; pour over the roast.
Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 hours.
Turn to LOW and cook for 6 to 8 hours longer. (I didn’t do the 2 hours on high simply because I wasn’t home, I did 8 hours on low and it was great)
Serves 6 to 8.

  1. Oh yum! I bet that tastes wonderful. I will have to try it out and see what we all think of it. 🙂

    I just made a pork roast in the crockpot 2 days ago. But I didn’t think to put apple in the crockpot, which is awesome. I made apple cinnamon muffins.

  9. love the addition of the apple jelly

  10. I bet the apple jelly makes it super yummy. If I ate meat I would try it.

  11. The apple jelly surprised me and I have never tried or heard of it this way. I do put mine in the crock pot so will try this recipe with using the jelly next time. Thanks!

  12. This looks so good. I have to see if the local store carries apple jelly.
