Recipe: Hot Bacon & Swiss Cheese Dip

I’m not really a fan of Swiss cheese, but a couple weekends ago I was at my friends house and she served this dip with ritz crackers. I didn’t believe it was Swiss cheese though, it was soooo good. I ended up making this at home on Friday for my hubby and I, and he LOVED it just as much as I did.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
8 oz of shredded Swiss (I used slices and cut them up because I couldn’t find shredded)
8 oz of Cream Cheese
2 Tablespoons of Green Onions (I used more than that, but I love onions)
8 Strips of cooked Bacon cut into small pieces

Directions:
Mix everything together and put in an oven safe dish. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. I took it out half way and stirred it though because the Swiss wasn’t shredded. After it’s done, serve with ritz crackers!

I have to say I didn’t really like it leftover, for some reason it was VERY oily…I don’t know if that was the mayo or the cheese, but it grossed me out. I had to use 4 paper towels to blot all the oil out of the dish.

  2. I bet that could easily be cut in half to avoid left overs. Sounds wonderful fresh!

  5. Sandy Cain says:

LOL, you had me at bacon and cheese, 2 of my favorite foods! Swiss and bacon is a great combination – I always throw a slice of Swiss on my BLT’s. This sounds good – and if it separates the next day, I’d just blot up the oil – no biggie. Although there probably wouldn’t be any leftovers!!!!!

I love having dips for the Holidays! I think that I am going to make this awesome dip for the 4th of July and have chips with it. It looks so delicious. Thanks for an awesome recipe!

This dip sounds so good. I wish there was a picture too. I would of loved to pin it with a picture. I have a family reunion to go to and this sounds like a great dip to take with the Ritz. Thanks for sharing this recipe 🙂

  11. cheryl lister says:

Anything with cheese and bacon (even Swiss cheese!) has to be good. Wonder if you could swap a sharp cheddar for the Swiss? I’ll just have to be sure to eat it all the first day!

  12. Sherry Compton says:

Interesting! I don’t normally use Swiss cheese either but would probably go well with the bacon. Creamy and a distinct flavor. Good tip bout stirring halfway through. I will have to try it. Plus, my coworkers would love it.

  13. Nikki Elkins says:

This sounds really good and easy to make. I find that swiss cheese doesnt really melt that well and must be eaten right away. If left to sit for awhile it does get oily

  14. With bacon and cheese in it I know my husband would like it.

  15. Deborah D says:

I love bacon so i am hooked. i am going to try this.

  16. Brittany F. says:

This sounds so good. I’m going to try this at our next family gathering. Except I use Late July crackers. I was surprised to find high fructose corn syrup in Ritz crackers.

This sounds really good and easy enough to put together.

  19. My husband would love this. He thinks my cheese dip is boring. lol It would be great for football season.

  20. This sounds good. I bet that it would be good if you used shredded corned beef instead of bacon – similar to a reuben.

  21. Rebecca Parsons says:

Delicious! I would love to make this for my daughters baby shower next weekend.

  22. Sounds good except I hate mayo. Would it be good to sub sour cream for the mayo? Or would that totally screw up the flavor?

  23. Gina Hiskes says:

I love onions as well! This sounds like something my husband would love. I love to make us special snacks for after the kids go to bed, we just sit and watch a movie or even just the news. He loves bacon, I love cheese, so this is something we’d both enjoy! Yay!

  24. My daughter caters on occasion so I will have to pass this recipe on. It looks very yummy and I love Swiss cheese. I may even try this myself and use 1/2 Swiss and 1/2 feta (my new cheese obsession).

  25. Rebecca Parsons says:

I’m afraid I have to make this because I am the only one in the house who like swiss cheese. Which means more for me. This recipe sounds great.

  26. love the addition of bacon

  27. Who doesn’t love bacon? Yummy!

  28. Lyn Johnson says:

This sounds so yummy. Might have to try it at my DD birthday party next week.

  29. Sherry Compton says:

I was looking for a different recipe with bacon, and this one grabbed me. I like dips. They are great for snacking or to take to work. My daughter made bacon and eggs. Maybe we will use the extra and have a great football snack

  30. Elizabeth Hitchcock says:

My family is all about dips of any kind! Add bacon and who doesn’t love it?! This will definitely be going in my recipe collection!

  31. Well, hearing that you aren’t a big fan of swiss makes me more willing to try this. Overall it does sound good.

  32. Jessica Parent says:

SOunds good to me (cept the mayo -not a huge fan of mayo dips-lol more of a cream cheese girl) But I think my boys would LOVE it!!Specially my 12 yr old the BACON nut

  33. I made this and it is pretty good. Not a personal favorite. Enough people did like it that I’d make it again.

  34. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I have to try it.

  35. Cynthia Cover says:

Bacon is awesome and Bacon with Cheese is even better. I can think of tons of things to dip, like veggies, bread pieces, and crackers….total yum!

Definitely need to make this !!! It has 2 of my favorite things in it, bacon & cheese. You can’t go wrong with that 😉 Thanks for sharing.

  40. This sounds really good – I like swiss cheese and love bacon too. I doubt there would be any leftover at my house . Maybe if it is stirred up real well when its leftover it wouldnt be so oily – thats worth a try. thanks so much for the recipe.

  41. Terrie Swanson says:

OMG! Bacon and Cheese. I love it and I think it would be great with my Christmas Appetizers. I think everyone in my family loves bacon and cheese so we would all enjoy it and if there are leftovers, which I doubt, it would be divided up between everyone.

  42. This sounds good. You can’t go wrong with bacon AND cheese. lol

  43. I don’t think I could eat hot mayo and Swiss. I may change it up a bit and try it.

  44. Jo-Ann Brightman says:

Since I love bacon , cream cheese and swiss cheese I know I would love this. I think that as it cools all the fat from the bacon, mayo and cheeses comes to the surface which is why it would not be as good .

  45. This sounds like something my husband would love, thank you for sharing.

  46. This sounds delicious, I would make this using turkey bacon. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

  47. Jo-Ann Brightman says:

This must taste so good. However, here is a lot of fat in this which is why it separates the next day. You could thinly slice potatoes and cook them with the rest of the dip.

  48. With as many people as we have here and visitors we get, I don’t think we’d have the issues with leftovers and it really does sound like a great recipe to try. I’d be like you with the onions, love them!

  49. darlene says:

Thanks for a tasty dip recipe. It will taste great with crackers or even some veggies.

  50. M.Clark says:

This is a delicious dip, it’s sure to be a hit at any party. Actually any time you add bacon you’re sure to have a hit on your hands. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

  51. Deborah D says:

Sounds very good but not for this girl who is trying to lose weight.
