Hugo the Happy Starfish – Book Review

We all know how terrible bullying is now days, especially bullying in schools. It’s just out of hand. I think we need to teach our children at an early age about bullying. All children love story time so a book about it, is perfect.
This book is Hugo the Happy Starfish “The Last Bully” by Suzy Liebermann. It’s great to teach children about what bullying is, how to react to it, and how to treat people with respect.
In the book it tells a story about a fish being bullied by a shark, and then the shark gets bullied by an Orca. Hugo the starfish makes an Anti-Bully Club for everyone to join in, which teaches the bullies to respect one another.
During each event in the book I had a small talk to my 4 year old about what she should say if she hears something not so nice, and if it continues to tell an adult. I also told her how it’s not nice to be mean to others or to make fun of others. I really believe this book is great to teach our youth of today how to respect others.
