Last month we were sent a new stroller from Mamas & Papas, the Armadillo in Lemon Drop to try out with our two year old and to post a review. We have been using this for the past couple weeks and we couldn’t be happier. This is what Mamas & Papas call, “The Big Little Stroller.” I can tell you I know exactly why they call it this, and I’m going to tell you all about the Armadillo in this review.

The Armadillo is considered a lightweight stroller, weighing in at just 17.6lbs. It’s weight limits are from birth to 50lbs. Which to me is a great feature, and one I tend to look for when it comes to a stroller. I have a 2 year old (pictured above) as well as a 5 year old. While my 5 year old is a bit big to be riding in a stroller, she is under the weight limit and if we are out at the zoo or a theme park and wants to take a break, she has the option to hop into the Armadillo.

The seat is very roomy, it’s not a narrow seat like a lot of other strollers, there’s room to move around. It’s a comfortable seat too, as there’s a lot of padding to make the seat comfy, as well as the padded harness. There’s room to stretch and the seat offers a full recline with just a pull of the button in the back, which can be done with one hand. The foot rest also comes up too, which is great for an infant with shorter legs.

MamasPapas3I really like the peek a boo window as well, it’s easy to look in at your child and check on them. The handle is comfy to push and it also has a tether strap, which is great if you’re on an incline or something and would like to keep a better grip. The basket underneath is great and very roomy. I always find strollers to have a basket that’s not easy to get to, but this one is great and easy to get to with plenty of room for shopping bags, diaper bag, etc.

Now for my favorite feature yet, the ONE HANDED FOLD. Yes you heard that right, this stroller can be folded with ease, with just ONE hand. Hands down (no pun intended), best feature. I know a lot of other strollers say one handed fold, that really take everything you have with two hands, but this one really only takes one hand. The best way to show you how is with a picture. On the handle you use to push the stroller there is a button, push it over to the right and twist up towards the arrows, and the stroller will easily fold into itself. I did this easily while holding my 2 year old.

Mamaspapas5Then you have an easy to carry handle, and it folds compactly to fit easily into your SUV or car trunk. One of my next favorite features of the Armadillo is the flip flop friendly foot brake. It’s easy to push on, and pull off.

Now here are some other great features:
Travel system compatible with Maxi Cosi Mico/Prezi/Citi/CabrioFix, Chicco KeyFit 30 & Aton car seat adapters; sold separately.
XL hood – gives maximum weather protection.
Easy rider – lockable front swivel wheels for extra stability off-road.

Here are my cons about the stroller:
I’m tall, and while it was easy to push and it was comfortable, it did not have an adjustable handle to make it taller.
There isn’t a cup holder. (You can purchase separately.)
No tray for child to hold snacks or their own cup.

The Armadillo is available in 5 different color options.

Lemon Drop, Black Liquorice, Blue Indigo, Coral Pop, &  Stripe
MPStrollersThe Armadillo from Mamas & Papas includes chassis, seat unit, canopy and shopping basket.
Accessorize with the, all seasons footmuffs, diaper bags or parasols, all sold separately. Also convert armadillo to a travel system by adding your Maxi Cosi Mico/Prezi/Citi/CabrioFix, Chicco KeyFit 30 or Aton car seat (using the armadillo Maxi Cosi, Chicco or Aton car seat adapters – sold separately).

this stroller looks amazing! i have a thing for strollers i don’t know what it is, i always want a new stroller even though we clearly have enough!!!!!

  3. love the color of that stroller! And the brake….amazing!

  4. I like the canopy design. It reminds me of a prairie schooner and would probably be lightweight to push. I agree an adjustable handle would help because I’m also fairly tall and hate when counters or shopping cart handles are too low. As for the lack of a drink holder, have you seen those crocheted slings for holding a wine glass around your neck. What’s that? Mommy shouldn’t be drinking wine while walking the streets with a toddler? Well, true enough, but I guess you could put soda or water in it too.

  5. Sally T. says:

I am looking and reading about this stroller, and they
sure have come a long way since I was pushing “buggys”I like the fact
that they have a foot brake.

  6. M.Clark says:

This looks like a nice roomy stroller that offers a comfortable ride, totally different from the cramped little stroller we had when I was a child. It’s great to have your child ride in comfort, thank you for sharing this review.

  7. I love that it is comfortable for older kids and the fact that it collapses down so much, our jogging stroller takes up so much room in the back of our wagon.

  8. Michael Lambert says:

This is a very nice stroller and I know my wife has mentioned wanting one of these.

  9. Jo-Ann Brightman says:

This is a beautiful stroller and love the bright yellow color and canopy. It is good that it has so much storage space and can be easily collapsed

  10. What a fantastic review and such a pretty stroller! Thanks for sharing!

  11. With young children a stroller is a lifesaver. I used mine daily.

  14. jenn huey says:

I love the one handed fold, and that it is made for newborn up to 50 lbs. I am not a fan of the big bulky carseat/stroller things, unless maybe we are going on vacation, but for just around town I love these strollers
