Now this post is for anyone of course, but it’s more towards expectant first time moms. Most moms who already have children know which items are needed and not needed. We have compiled a list of must haves based on a survey questionnaire to our followers and our own personal experiences. It’s always so overwhelming as a first time mom to know which essentials are actually needed. Also keep in mind, what others might recommend, may not be right for you and your baby, but we did this on a majority case and the most suggested items. I will say it was totally hard to fit just ten must haves in this post though!

AA1. Aden + Anais Swaddles & Dream Blanket – Hands down, these are our favorite blankets in the house. They are built to last. Swaddles are nice and lightweight to swaddle baby or even to use as a lightweight blanket, or a cover up while out. I have even used them as a nursing cover, which is great because they are breathable. They are a generous size and are great for anything and everything. We also love the Dream Blanket. This is a 4 layer blanket and is nice for the Winter months or when you are snuggled up with baby. (Please do not leave a heavy blanket with baby alone.) You can see a review we did a review we did here – Aden + Anais Crib Sheet Review.

2. Petunia Pickle Bottom Diaper Bag – These are the best name brand, high quality diaper bags. They look like a modern handbag for mom, but are completely functional for a baby. All of them have plenty of pockets and the ability to carry all of your needs. We are a huge fan of Petunia Pickle Bottom, you can see our most recent review here – Petunia Pickle Bottom Alluring Azaleas Sashay Satchel Review.

boppy
3. Boppy Pillow – This pillow is very versatile. I used it a lot for nursing, especially right after having baby. It helps you to be comfortable and help feed baby with ease. It can also be used to help baby learn how to sit up without having to worry about baby falling over on the hard floor. You can purchase them with a slipcover on them and they even have tons of different prints you can choose from separately.

ergo
4. Ergo Baby Carrier w/infant insert – The Ergo baby carrier is one of my favorites. It’s easy to wear and super comfortable. You can wear a baby or toddler in this versatile carrier on front of you or on your back. To use with an infant you must purchase the Infant Insert that is sold separately. The Ergo has many different prints and colors available.

drBrowns
5. Dr Browns Bottles– These have been an item that our readers have voted over and over as the number one bottle that they prefer. They have several different parts to them that are supposed to help lessen issues with gas and colic.
RockNplay
6. Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper– This is my number one must have item for a newborn to about 5 months old. I didn’t have this with my first, but I did with my second child and this was a life saver. It’s so easy to use and strap baby in.  You can rock baby with your foot or your hand. It’s easy for baby to sleep in next to your bed and helps with acid reflux by allowing baby to sleep on an incline. It folds up in half with ease allowing you to take it with you anywhere you go.
diapergenie7. Diaper Genie– This is a great item to have to throw babies diapers away to where you don’t have to worry about any odors in your home. Once you put diaper in it locks the diaper away until you empty it. It’s a great product to have in your home.

SummerInfant8. Summer Infant SwaddleMe – We used these with my youngest, and she was so stubborn she wouldn’t go to sleep unless she was wrapped up as tight as could be in her Summer Swaddle Me. They have velcro to help you get the tightest you can on baby. It’s super easy to use. Nothing to fold or figure out, it’s simple to use! Best part is they are inexpensive!

PISA9. Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump– This was my lifesaver for weeks after having my newborn. My baby had a super shallow latch and breastfeeding didn’t work for us, so I was determined to give her all that I could and I pumped for weeks with the Medela Pump In Style Advanced. It was a great pump, great suction and came with all the pieces you needed, best of all it was comfortable.

Mamaroo10. 4Moms Mamaroo– This has been a product I have seen that has been suggested over and over again as a must have for baby. It moves in all different motions. It’s like a swing and a bouncer all in one, and it does all the work. It’s so soothing and will put baby to sleep. It’s a great product to have as a new mom to be able to take a shower, do some dishes and laundry, and even get dinner started. It’s a lifesaver!

What are some of your MUST-HAVE Newborn items?

The swaddles are a must. I like that they're lightweight and can be used any time of the year.
