I’m not sure that I know anyone who has perfectly straight hair without using some kind of product or heat tool like a blow dryer or flat iron. My hair is pretty straight with some waves to it, which I always have to at least use a flat iron on, especially for my side swept bangs. I normally can’t even get away with just using a blow dryer and a brush, they still have this wave to them that doesn’t look good at all. A few weeks ago I was contacted by SheSpeaks to work with Aveda and try out their Aveda Naturally Straight Products on my hair and post about it on my blog. I have been using their products for the past 8 days, and I’m excited to share with you my results.

As you straighten your hair, Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight’s naturally derived plant fibers invisibly attach to hair to loosen curl and help lock in straightness. The formula’s humidity barrier of organic cassava extract and maize defends against frizz. The more you use it, the easier it is to create straight, smooth styles, so you can spend less time with a blow dryer and flat iron every day. It is safe for relaxed and color treated hair. After five consecutive applications of Naturally Straight, hair will stay straight for up to three washes.

The Aveda Naturally Straight products, have worked wonderful, although I don’t like the fragrance too much as it smells a bit like a minty citrus of some sort. My husband said it smelled good, so it may just be me. I don’t really care about the smell too much anyways as the product works great!

As you can see my hair has a little bit of a wave to it and it’s a bit frizzy, not sleek at all, which is what I always have to achieve with using additional products and heating tools. My hair even looks coarse here too. This is exactly why I was excited to try out this product.

After using Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight, my hair would stay straight up to 3 days after! It was so easy to use too. After using the Aveda Shampoo, Conditioner, and Prep Smoother, I would use the Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight by applying a nickle sized amount in my palms and rub together and work through my hair while it was still damp. I made sure to concentrate on the mid section through the ends of my hair, staying away from the roots of my hair.

How to Use the Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Products:
Step 1: Wash hair with Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Shampoo and follow with Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Conditioner. Towel dry hair and comb through.
Step 2: Apply Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother to damp hair, by working it through from the mid-shaft through the ends of hair.
Step 3: Apply Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight. Depending on hair length and thickness, start by using approximately a small coin sized drop of Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight styling creme on towel-dried, still-damp hair, applying it one section at a time.
Step 4: Blow-dry hair straight using the brush of your choice. Flat iron if desired.

As you can see the product worked exceptionally great for me! This is a product I will be using for a long time. I give this product 4 out of 5 stars, ONLY because I was not a fan of the fragrance.

Aveda Naturally Straight retails for $26.00/5 oz., 150 ml and is available at Aveda stores and salons and online at aveda.com. To find a location near you, visit aveda.com.

  1. I wonder if this would work for someone with curly hair like mine. I don’t think I would ever try to straighten my own hair, it would be way too time consuming and I’ve got better things to do with my time. Thank you for sharing this post.

  2. My niece will be told about this product…she straightens her long hair every day and seems to have problems

  3. TrippyCusp93 says:

Wow! I want to try this stuff. My hair is naturally wavy and looks a lot like yours does in your before picture. I love straightening my hair because it looks so much longer when I do, but it can be a hassle. This stuff looks like it might make the straightening process a lot easier! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I am not very good with my hair and need products that help keep my hair straight and looking good for my work days. My hair is not curly but is not very manageable.

  5. I should try this on my hair. Thank you for sharing.

  6. Looks like a great product. I will have to try especially on those stubborn days with high humidity. I always can use a good product to keep my hair tame.

  7. wow that is an amazing result! i haven’t tried aveda products but i really need to !

  8. Christina G. says:

I think you’re hair is perfect BEFORE the straightening, but it looks good either way. Thanks for sharing!

  9. I need to try and pick some of this up for my daughter. She has super thick hair that gets a little curl in it. She is always trying to blow it straight. This looks like it did a great job in the pictures. Thanks!

  10. I have naturally straight hair. After I wash it, it sometimes has a curl to it in the morning. I have tried Aveda shampoo before and really liked it, but never tried the Smooth Infusion™ Products.

  14. This product looks so awesome! I really want to try this. I have naturally wavy/curly hair, and it always seems frizzy. I also like Aveda products, their products are natural, work well, and I like the scent. It seems like the application process is pretty easy, and I like that the results can last through three shampoos. I may have to get this system. Thanks for the review, your hair looked great!

  15. great article

  16. I wonder if they have a product for wavy hair. My hair is naturally very wavy. I love it and am looking for products to enhance my curls without being sticky feeling.

    • They do have a curly line also, which works great. I use the straight and curly products depending on my mood. This is a great product. I have curly long hair and this is the best product I have ever tried and being a product junkie I’ve used many but not anymore. I found what works for my hair the best are these products.

  17. I love how these products made your hair look. Thank you for sharing with us.

  18. Kasie Tillman says:

I am that rare unicorn with extremely straight hair. I don’t even own a flat iron. I LOVE the Aveda Pure Abundance Products. They actually give my hair some body. I haven’t heard anything negative about any of their products.

  19. These products look amazing and I am going to take a closer look at them. Thanks for this great review.I am going to introduce Aveda Pure Abundance products to my daughter too.She straightens her hair every day.

  20. I have used their products before. They work alright. My hair tangles very easily. The only thing that I didn’t like was that I couldn’t wet comb my hair easily.

  21. I didn’t see mention of it and was sort of freaked out about the notion of using heated styling tools without some kind of protectant, but I checked out their website and it would seem the Style-Prep Smoother has some stuff in it to protect from surface damage. Still, I would look into a spray that specifically protects against thermal damage before going to town with the blow dryer/flat iron. I’m sure Aveda has one, they make good products.

  22. This looks like a great product. I appreciate you sharing this with us. Hair looks great in the pics
