Kiinde Twist Universal Direct-Pump Breastmilk Collection, Storage, & Feeding System Review & Giveaway – ends 12/1

We received the below mentioned product for free in exchange of our honest opinion.

Hi all! I’m Michelle Bowman, guest reviewing from the Ramblings of Mama blog. I’m the mama of a 3-year old, am expecting twins in December, am a pediatric Occupational Therapist, and Certified Lactation Consultant. I was extremely excited to share my review of the Kiinde Twist Universal Direct-Pump Breastmilk Collection, Storage and Feeding System with you all today.

Breastfeeding can be a difficult task, and it’s possible for a lot of moms to be successful. There’s so many mothers that have to work; I know this first-hand. I had to return to work at 8 weeks post-partum after the birth of my daughter. When a mama has to work away from their infant, the only way to exclusively breastfeed through 6 months of age is to provide expressed (pumped) breast milk. The World Health Organization recommends exclusive breastfeeding (or formula for those that choose) exclusively through 6 months of age, at that point, beginning the introduction of solids/purees into their diets.

Pumping while working can be stressful, time consuming, a logistical nightmare, even at times, embarrassing. Not saying this happened to me, but those feel-good hormones that make you sleepy while nursing? They happen when you pump too… Falling asleep on your lunch break is never a good thing, just sayin’. However, being able to pump for your child is also definitely a rewarding experience, by being able to provide your child with the nutrition he or she (or they!) need. I know I felt such great pride when I would see those bottles of milk after my pump breaks, carry them home and show my husband “look how much I got today”!

When I first heard about the Kiinde System, my first thought was “How does one system do ALL of that?” So naturally, I HAD to learn more about Kiinde. With my first daughter, I worked full time (50+ hours weekly!), so ANYTHING that saved a little time (and dishes), was something I had to get into! When you’re a working parent, sometimes finding one or two things that cut even 10 minutes out of your “must do’s of the day” makes a huge difference when it comes to those precious moments with your little one.

Looking at the packaging, this is perfect for a baby shower gift! Everything is packaged individually, so you could wrap each thing separately (fun!!!) or just wrap the big box. I like how they
did this, as you could store the items you don’t need for a new baby (the faster flow nipples, etc), and only pull out the items you need, as you need them.

The Kiinde Twist is a Universal Direct-Pump system, for collection, storage and feeding for your infant.

This system is unique; because, you only deal with ONE milk container. You can then label, organize, store, warm, and feed from that same pouch – without ever having to transfer precious breast milk from bottles to bags. No more crying over spilled milk mamas! That’s right. You literally pump directly into the bag using the Kiinde Direct-Pump adapter, freeze it in that same bag, and then the bottle system- uses the bag, too! No other system on the market does this.

After you pump into the bag, you just place the cap on the bag, which has a twist-lock, preventing spills and messes- no messy zip tops that sometimes don’t snap just right, resulting in the loss of the whole bag of milk! You are able to label directly onto the bag for dating, time of day, whatever you label your bags with. Make sure you check out my tips for labeling your bottles and milk for nursery school. One really cool thing I like about the Twist Pouches is that they’re able to stand when filled, but they also lay flat for storage in the
Keeper breastmilk holder and organizer.
The coolest thing about these pouches? Not only are they BPA-free, pthalate-free, and PVC-free
, they’re RECYCLABLE. Yes, you read that right. Recycle these puppies! You can order them in 6oz or 8oz sizes, in packages of 20/40/80 on the Kiinde website.

You can thaw them in a bowl of warm water or use their Kozii warmer, which uses a low temperature, nutrient-safe water bath
that is safe for ALL bottle and bag types, including liner bottles, plastic, glass, food jars . Please remember, you do not want to microwave breast milk to thaw, as it can break down some of the antibodies in your milk. The Kozii warmer is so helpful, as you don’t have to add water for every heating, has a timer to let you know it’s done and an auto-shut off, in case you are a little forgetful in your sleep-deprived mama state.

For feeding, the Kiinde Squeeze natural feeding bottle with Active-Latch nipples eliminates gas/air from feeding, as the bags collapse while the baby eats. I’m extremely picky when it comes to recommending bottle nipples, as they often encourage lazy eating, which can result in a poor latch when back to breast. The Active Latch nipples are designed to teach and reward deep, wide, natural latching by requiring suction and massaging of the nipple, making an easier transition between bottle and breast. It’s fantastic because there are no leaks, threads, lock rings, or complicated venting parts.

You have to get one of these! No pouring back and forth, no spilling, no extra dishes? The Kiinde Twist Universal Direct-Pump Breastmilk Collection, Storage and Feeding System helps make pumping a little less tedious, a little less stressful, and much more convenient.

  23. i know this post it old but when you mean reusable does that mean the bags are reusable. like you pump and store and feed with one bag and you wash the bag and pump, store and feed in the same bag a second time. if that is what you mean by reusable then how many times can you reuse the bag?
