Chicco KidFit Booster

Choosing the right booster seat for your child is imperative. Anyone who follows my blog knows that car seat safety is very very important to me. I’ve focused on infants and toddlers, but not so much on bigger kids. My oldest daughter is 6 years old now, and she is actually still in a harnessed car seat at this very moment. I have been thinking about booster seats for her for awhile now, but I haven’t made the switch quite yet. I will probably wait until she’s closer to 7 years old. I’m always one that has researched to determine what is best, no matter if it’s a car seat or something for my home. The Chicco (pronounced as Kee-Ko) KidFit Booster Seat is the choice I’ve made, and I want to tell you why.

Chicco KidFit

Why Chicco?

Chicco is a brand that’s widely known for their exceptional car seats like their #1-rated KeyFit Infant Car Seat and NextFit Convertible Car Seat. These have been seats I have recommended over and over to friends and family members who ask me what seats to purchase. They have excellent ratings and features. Not only that. but for more than 50 years, Chicco has been around providing car seats and other baby products, which means it’s a company that you can trust! Now that they are adding in the brand new Chicco KidFit Booster Seat, they have a full range of car seats to accommodate every child.

Why should I choose the Chicco KidFit Booster Seat?

The Chicco KidFit Booster Seat has some great features!
-DuoZone™ 10-position head and shoulder side-impact protection. This is a great feature for growing children, with 10 different positions this seat will easily grow with your child. It’s also so easy to move to the next position with a handle in the back to move the head/shoulder rest upwards.

Chicco DuoZone
-SuperCinch® LATCH attachment and tightener. This is so important and a new feature that I absolutely love. It’s so easy to get a perfect install, all you have to do is connect the LATCH connectors to your vehicle and then pull the tightener in the front of the seat. I like putting a little bit of my weight on the seat to push the seat down, while pulling the tightener. Your seat should not move if it’s installed correctly.

Chicco SuperCinch
-ErgoBoost™ contoured seat with double foam padding. This is important for your child to be comfortable in his or her seat. It makes for a smooth and comfortable ride.

Chicco ErgoBoost
-2 removable cup holders fold away when not in use. These are so convenient for your child to have a drink to hold as well as a snack too. It’s always best to have a happy child in the car so you can focus on driving. They fold in when not in use. They are also easy to remove if you need the space if you have other seats next to the KidFit Booster, or if you just don’t want them on.

Removable, machine-washable seat pad and armrest covers. We all know how important this is, let’s face it. Children are messy. It’s important to be able to remove the covers to be able to wash them to get any stains out.

-2-position backrest adjusts to mimic vehicle seat position. This is important for comfort for your child and to be able to fit your vehicle.

Removable backrest for use as backless booster. I always recommend a high-back booster for children, as I feel it makes your child sit better in their seat and it’s important for your child to sit properly in their seat. It’s also important in the event of an accident to support your child’s head. The back does come off though for a backless booster, but remember your child must be 40lbs+ to be able to use the Chicco KidFit Booster Seat, backless. When you do remove the back, it’s important to put them in an outboard position in your vehicle that has a built in headrest, meaning they should not be sitting in the middle.

When should you move your child to a booster seat?

This is a topic I discuss often with my friends and family and the answer is really not the same for everyone. It’s not just a magical number, it really depends on the maturity of your child. Your child will have more freedom to move around and will be less restricted with a booster, so they will need to be mature enough to sit still and sit straight up 100% of the time while in a moving vehicle. This really is imperative to keep them safe, which is the main focus here with our precious cargo, as they only have on life. It’s our duty as parents or caregivers to protect them and keep them as safe as possible. Car seat safety is one of the easiest ways to keep them safe, as long as you do your research and do the maximum for your child, your child will be protected.

Most children that are under the age of 5, really aren’t mature enough to use a booster seat, so keep them harnessed until they are mature enough. This is the reason why my 6.5 year old is still in a harnessed seat. You are the parent (or caregiver) so you know your child best to make sure they are safe. In my opinion, I see many friends and acquaintances move their children to booster seats way too early, that’s why I always think it’s important to research as some parents aren’t just educated enough (which is okay, we aren’t given a manual with our children).

Ages & Stages of Car Seat Usage

No matter if you have a child on the way, an infant, toddler, preschool, or a school aged child, I highly recommend checking out all of the Chicco brand products. If you’re in the market for a booster for your older child, make sure you purchase the Chicco KidFit Booster Seat. You won’t be disappointed!

I feel the same way about the importance of using a Car seat for kids. My son, who just turned 13, used a booster seat until he was 12. I only allowed him to sit in the car without one when he was close 4 ft 11. My daughter is 6 is also still using a harnessed car seat. Thanks so much for sharing all the info! It is so important to keep our kids safe while riding in our cars.
