RecaroReview

RECARO is Safety. RECARO is Performance. RECARO is Ease-of-Use.

Car seat safety is so important to myself and my family, and RECARO makes that possible. RECARO sent me the RECARO Performance RIDE Convertible Car Seat in Midnight, which is only available at Babies ‘R Us, to review for you as well as host a giveaway! I’ve actually been looking for another RECARO for my SUV as my 6 year old is still harnessed in a RECARO, so I was happy to have two RECARO’s in my vehicle. I will tell you not all car seats are created equal (even though they all pass the same safety tests), and RECARO continues to come out on top for me. They are the best seats I have had the pleasure of reviewing.

The very first thing, right off the bat, that I love about this car seat is it’s made right here in the USA. It seems this is becoming less and less common, and I’d rather buy from a USA made company than overseas.

My daughter fell asleep within the first hour of the first car ride in our new RECARO Performance RIDE.

Recaro2

The RECARO Performance RIDE is a convertible car seat, which means you can rear-face AND forward-face this car seat. The best thing about this seat is the higher limits for rear facing, which I’m a firm believer in extended rear-facing (why you ask? because the longer you rear face, the safer your child will be..before you jump to conclusions on a possible leg break, do your research, I promise it’s safer). I wasn’t a huge car seat crazy person until I had my second child, so we have done so much more with her. She rear faced until age 3, which she was 23lbs and 36 inches tall. Extended rear-facing is so easy to do with the RECARO Performance RIDE!

First off, let me jump right in and tell you the limits of this lovely convertible car seat, that’s only available at Babies ‘R Us!

Rear-facing: 5-40 lbs; up to 22.5 inches seated height (this means the height of your child’s torso, from their bottom and up. Don’t get this confused with total, standing height)
Forward-facing: 20-65 lbs; up to 49 inches standing height (my 6 year old is just 48 inches, so she actually still fits in this seat)

perfRideGraphicHere are some of the great features that sets this car seat apart from competitors:

HERO technology harness with a no twist harness

Easy Adjust No-Rethread Harness

“PUR” Foam in head restraint for maximum comfort

Racing Inspired Side Impact Protection

Recaro1

One of the most convenient features is the No Re-thread system. You don’t have to take you baby/toddler out of their seat and re thread the harness, and then reinstall the car seat. The RECARO Performance RIDE has simple knobs you can turn that will raise/lower the harness straps as well as the back of the seat.

Recaro Knob

There’s nothing more than making a mommy’s life easier, and this feature alone makes this car seat a great buy. It saves you time and stress!

Let’s talk installation!

Installing this seat is a breeze. I had this seat installed in under a minute. I’m a huge fan of LATCH (plus the seat belts in my car aren’t just regular seat belts, they have air bags in the actual seat belt), especially with the easy to use LATCH connectors on the RECARO.

RECARO Installation

Once you install this seat, make sure you install the top tether (only if you’re forward-facing) to the anchor. Mine is located on the back side of my seat down at the bottom. (I drive a 2013 Ford Explorer with 3 rows.)

My daughter was in the Evenflo Symphony DLX Platinum before installing this seat, the first thing I noticed when I installed the RECARO Performance RIDE was how high up this seat sits! It sits up a lot higher and it’s easier for me to see my toddler in the rear-view mirror now, and she can easily see out all of the windows too.

***Something very important to remember when installing via LATCH. The RECARO Performance RIDE weights 24lbs, so if your child weighs OVER 41lbs, you will need to install via seat belt instead of LATCH. LATCH limits are only 65lbs (the weight of your child and the seat).***

  9. I love the design of this car seat. I would love it for my son.

  10. I have a Recaro and love it !! It’s a great car seat !!

  11. I love the fact that the head rest is made to be comfortable as well as protecion. I love the fact that it is easily placed in car and that the harness system does not get twisted up. This would be wonderful for this nana to have, I have my grandson at least 3 to 5 days a week and if I don’t think about getting his car seat we are stuck playing around the house all day.

  12. Charlotte Mathews says:

I love all the added safety features, the fact that it would not be hard to install and that comfort is also at the top of this car seat. I would give this to my daughter and son in law for my 2 yr old grandson that will be a big brother in Aug.

  13. Deborah Caudill says:

Thanks for another excellent review. My only child is 25 so I am not in the market for a car seat, but I sign up for these giveaways sometimes anyway. I will donate it or give it to someone who needs one if I amlucky enough to ever win. I just like to keep up-to-date on the car seats because I’m hoping to have grandchildren one day in the not too distant future and the safety regulations seem to change very often and I like to keep up with the bew regs.

  14. Cynthia C says:

I would love to win this for my friend’s daughter. I just found out she is expecting her first and will need one.

  15. Lesley F says:

  19. Mandee Gary says:

I love how easy it looks like it adjusts. No more fighting with those crazy straps. And they don’t get twisted! Baby #5 is due in August. I am in need of another car seat and it begins at 5 lbs! Love it. This would be such a blessing.

  20. Jodi Armstrong says:

Love that it is rear facing until 40lbs and forward facing until 65lbs. Wish the latch worked beyond a 41lb kiddo because the seat belt is always annoying to me. My daughter desperately needs a new careseat after the airline trashed our last one 🙁

  21. I like that the latches can be stored. I also like that there is a head restraint and memory foam in the padding. This would be for my great nephew as my niece needs a second car seat since her first car seat is used by my great niece 🙂

  22. I love the racing background of Recaro. Are there really other options in car seats? Not for me. Winning one would be simply phenomenal.

  23. I would love to win this! I’ve got a 7 month old, and this looks like it would be really safe for him once he is big enough to sit in it. He technically already is, but I would probably wait a few more months!

  24. I LOVE everything about this carseat from the ease of installation to the racing inspired side impact protection! It’s amazing and would flip if I won! Fingers are crossed 🙂

  25. Jeremy Croll says:

I would love to win this car seat for my new born son, Han Leon, on March 12, 2015. I’ve been into the Subaru racing scene for quite a long time. Having this seat would help finish off the looks of my car and the added safety will keep my son into becoming the future racer he could be!

  26. Milinda Oberly says:

I love our Recaro car seat! It’s the only brand I trust. I was in a bad accident with my son and he came out with no scratches or injuries. I would love to win one for our other car!

  27. Kasie Tillman says:

I also love that Recaro is an American company and the seats are made here. I’m wondering if the memory foam makes the seat hotter compared to other seats.

  28. Lauren G says:

I would love to have this car seat for my husband’s car. Recaro is the best!

  29. Cindy Kong says:

I love this carseat and this company. They think safety first and that’s the most important thing when it comes to car seat. My sister owns a recaro car seat and I love it. I would get one for my daughter.

  31. Nicole Bear says:

What isn’t there to love about this seat? I especially like the no-twist straps. My hubby just can’t seem to get my daughter in her seat without getting everything twisted!

  32. Love this! It would be great to be able to have a seat we couldn’t otherwise afford!

  33. My brother just had a baby and I want to win this for him. I love the higher limits for rear facing because I too believe that is important.

  34. Joey Wright says:

I would like to give this to my 3 year old. She is short and this seat would definitely be in it for the long haul. I have my 7 year old in the Recaro Performance combination To harness seat. Its great!

  37. I like the LATCH connection system, it seems very secure. This carseat has a lot great safety features, and I especially like the design of the harness. If I won, I would save it for our first little one 🙂

  38. Deborah D says:

My sister could really use this. she has 3 kids.

  39. Theresa Smith says:

I like how EASY it is. I have a hard time installing and adjusting a car seat for my granddaughter. If we had one of our own we could leave it in and not have to install it every time.

  40. Kristin Kleven says:
