June is Adopt a Cat Month! Twitter Party TODAY 3pm! #ShelterPetLove

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Element Associates. All opinions expressed are those of my own.

June marks a particularly active time for shelters and rescue groups, as it’s the peak of kitten season, when thousands of newborn homeless kittens join other cats available for adoption across the United States. There are cats for every personality in shelters and rescue groups right now, and with each adoption, the number of healthy and treatable pets who lose their lives in shelters each year declines. Currently, about 2.4 million pets still need to find a home each year.

I’m reaching out to you on behalf of The Shelter Pet Project, a collaborative effort between The Humane Society of the United States, Maddie’s Fund®, and the Ad Council, to ask for your support during “Adopt-A-Cat” month.

Visit this great website TheShelterPetProject.org and browse to find the perfect pet for your family!

Did you adopt or rescue YOUR pet? If so share a photo or video of your shelter pet in a blog post and/or social media update. Tag posts with #shelterpetlove and encourage people to visit TheShelterPetProject.org to learn more about pet adoption. By sharing how your shelter pet enhances your life, you can show people who may be hesitant to pick a shelter pet just how rewarding it is to adopt.

Check out this super cute video from my friend Garfield!

  1. My husband won’t allow me to bring another animal into the house. I lose interest in things too quickly.

  2. Kristin K says:

I have two cats. One was a stray…I got her almost 8 years ago. My eldest cat is 17 1/2!!! They both have some quirks to them…that are not unlike my own! lol

  3. Carissa Joslyn says:

All most all of my cats were rescues. I have 7. Although one of my cats I got when she was a kitten, when she was about 5 my parents took her to the humane society on me, so I had to pay a friend to go adopt her out ($75 later I finally had my baby back with me) she’s now just turned 10 this month! But we always adopt and not shop! I told my boyfriend if he ever wanted to propose to me, to do it with a cat instead of a ring 😀

  4. We rent so we can’t have pets, but I used to volunteer at the Humane Society and I can say that Shelter animals are wonderful social creatures who just need a home and a family to love them.

  5. I wish we had the money for a pet. I just feel like I can’t do it just yet.

  6. I’m not an animal person. If I were, I would get a shelter pet.

  7. Linda Manns Linneman says:

I think it is great that we adopt our pets. There are so many that need good homes. Thank you for bringing this to our attention

  8. The hubby and I have a feral cat colony but they are now semi feral because we can pet them now especially when they are eating. We adopted our first pet Ginger two years ago. She walked into our home and she was 5 months old.
