If you’ve been an avid follower of Everything Mommyhood, you know we are car seat fanatics when it comes to safety. In my opinion, Diono, is one of the very best car seat brands out there for your little one. Viva Veltoro and Thrifty Nifty Mommy have added some very important info below about not using winter coats/snow gear while in car seats and you need to know why this is a no no!!!

IncorrectCarSeatUsage

With the chilly temperatures outside, most of us are bundled into our winter clothes and snow gear to stay warm. If you have kids, it’s pretty likely that at some time or another you’ve overdressed them to the point where they can’t move. Unfortunately, even with the good intentions of keeping our little ones safe, we might be putting them in more danger by combining winter outerwear and car seats. Ruth from Viva Veltoro has all the information you need from Allana Pinkerton, Certified Child Passenger Safety Instructor and Global Safety Advocate for Diono, to educate yourself about the dangers of your children wearing puffy coats while in their car seats. Make sure you check out her post for a full list of Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to winter car seat safety.

This car seat/booster seat for the little ones is great. It is so important that we take great care for our childs safety. Thank you for sharing this seat.

  2. Nancy Burgess says:

Great review very nice car seat.

  3. Noelle Carroll says:

I am so happy to read this review and see this giveaway! Until I had children, I had no idea that you had to “use” a carseat properly, because growing up we never even had carseats! My friend is a certified carseat person who looks at your carseat to make sure they are properly installed, and she shared so much useful information on how to properly use carseats and I am SO Happy that I listened! I want my kids to be safe and I have had so many conversations with others on how to do so! Like, especially in winter, not to have big bulky coats on when they are buckled in their carseats. I could go on forever about carseat safety. More mothers need to be education on how to use them properly to keep their children safe, especially the buckle at armpit level. Thank you so much for sharing this very helpful information! I will be sharing myself!

  4. Noelle Carroll says:

I learned from Diono that they have 50 International Awards for safety, even more reason to purchase a Diono carseat!

  5. Colleen Boudreau (Collifornia) says:

I learned that Diono Mighty-Tite debuted at the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) show in 1999.

  6. We choose to layer my son’s outerwear (thin fleece jacket then a light or medium weight coat on top) so that we can easily take off the outer coat before he gets in his car seat and buckles up. No bulky coat but all the warmth. He’s more comfortable that way as well.

  7. Karen Jaras says:

I wish someone would do a twin giveaway!

  8. Aline Boutz says:

Would like to win as I need one for my grandchild

  9. We are foster parents so there is always a need for these…I was not aware of the variety of Diono car seats available

  10. Love to have known about this convertible car seat before we bought one. Glad it’s strong and can use when child grows. Thanks for the review.

  11. Angela Hendricks says:

My favorite feature that I learned about the Diono car seat was the new extra deep side walls providing enhanced side impact protection. That is awesome! I always worry about if I got into an accident would my child’s car seat protect her like it should. I feel like the Diono car seat would do that!

  12. I learned from Diono that their car seats are made of steel.

  13. Mainly I learned that the seatbelt doesn’t work as well when the child is wearing a bulky coat or snowsuit. It’s better to dress in layers so the seatbelt is in the right place for safety.

  14. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 75% of carseats are installed incorrectly.

  15. Juanita Pena says:

I learned the correct way my grandchild would be safe using a car seat that is durable and safe that if installed and used properly would help protect him
