How to Clean Your Dishwasher

This is a guest posting from one of my blog contributors. All opinions are those of our own and were not influenced in any way.

How To Clean Your Dishwasher
All kitchen gadgets make our lives easier but they do need the occasional bit of maintenance. For example, a dishwasher can easily turn a mess into a bundle of joy with its state-of-the-art cleaning features, but they also need to be cleaned themselves once in a while. Otherwise, the device can start to get drab on the outside and unclean on the inside – which will end up affecting its performance in the long run.
External Maintenance
Dishwashers all get some build-up of dirt on the outside. In order to keep yours in good condition, all that you need to do is to wipe down the front with a soapy cloth. Refrain from using disinfectant wipes because they may spread germs instead of eradicate them.

Bear in mind also that most of the mentioned home appliance are recessed under a work surface. Take the time to pull it out once or twice a year and also wipe down the top and the sides.

Internal Maintenance
After you have run the dishwasher’s normal cycle, remove all of the contents. This means the racks, too, which can be cleaned in the sink in hot soapy water. Some cleaning devices have a build up of scum at the bottom which is part of their design. Use a kitchen paper towel to remove this and simply dump it in the bin. If the dishwasher has a grate or a filter at the bottom, then use warm water to clean it thoroughly. A watering can from the garden can be a helpful tool to use for this job.

Soak a damp cloth in vinegar or lemon juice and use it to wipe along the entire circumference of the washer’s door seal. This will help to remove any bits that have become lodged there and to get rid of unwanted limescale. Hard water deposits cause this scale to build up, so it is a good idea to run the machine without any contents but with a couple of cups of vinegar added to the bottom of the floor. Use a low heat or energy saving program.

In conclusion, all devices like this should be inspected regularly as well as cleaned to maintain them. Don’t put lots of dishes with fat on them into the machine. Try to get into the habit of cleaning on a regular basis for the best results. It’s super important to keep your dishwasher in tip top shape to be able to clean your dishes thoroughly.

Bloggers: Monetize Your Blog

I recently surveyed a large group of bloggers about monetization on blogs. I wanted to come up with a list to share with other bloggers of companies us bloggers work with. These companies all have something different. Sponsored posts, sponsored social media shares, sponsored giveaways, review opportunities, ads, giveaway events, social events, and much much more. I will try to link to as many as I can, and some of them may contain my referral link. I will also say I have not tried all of these, some of them are ones other bloggers have had success with. Good luck and happy monetizing!

Health Insurance: Get Covered America #ad

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Element Associates. All opinions are those of my own and were not influenced in any way.

There are so many people uninsured in the United States, and to be completely honest, our family is uninsured. I was recently contacted by Get Covered America about opportunities for health insurance and thought I’d share them with you because I think there’s a lot out there that not everyone knows about! Affordable health insurance is right at your finger tips with Get Covered America. More than half of all uninsured Americans can get covered for just under $100 a month. 4 in 5 people, who have already signed up, got help paying for their insurance.  The uninsured are exposed to significant financial risk from medical issues, accidents or emergencies. Even young and healthy individuals are at-risk. One trip to the emergency room for a broken arm or a bad ear infection could cost thousands of dollars. That is why it’s so important to have health insurance.

Open enrollment is set to begin again in the fall, but special enrollment is ongoing.  As with other elements of the health care law, many of those eligible for coverage don’t understand all the details.

While the Health Insurance Marketplaces don’t open until November 15th, certain “qualifying life events” (like getting married, having a baby, adopting a child, moving, losing your current health insurance, losing insurance when you turn 26 if you were covered under a parent’s healthcare plan, losing insurance after graduation if you were covered under your college’s healthcare plan,  and more) could allow you to get covered now.

Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) remain available to everyone eligible throughout the year. But people can also enroll if they’ve had a “qualifying life event” — meaning they’ve gotten married or divorced, had a baby, adopted a child, placed a child up for adoption, moved residences, gained citizenship, left incarceration, graduated from college or lost their health coverage. In most cases, once such an event occurs, a person has a 60-day window to get coverage.

If you have questions about healthcare enrollment, watch this video for more helpful information:

Financial help is available. In fact, over half of Americans under 35 could get covered for under $50 a month!  More than half of all uninsured Americans can get covered for under $100 a month. And 4 in 5 people, who have already signed up, got help paying for their insurance. Use the “Get Covered Calculator” to see how much help you could qualify for to cover your monthly insurance cost below.

If you or a family member are without insurance, it’s important to spread the word about Get Covered America. You can connect with Get Covered America on Facebook and Twitter as well. Make sure you check out the options they have available for you and your family members. It’s so important to have health insurance coverage and Get Covered America can help you obtain coverage!

Petunia Pickle Bottom Hideaway Hobo Diaper Bag Review & Giveaway – ends 9/11

Everything Mommyhood would like to welcome you to the Hideaway Hobo Diaper Bag Review & Giveaway from Petunia Pickle Bottom!

Everything Mommyhood and Petunia Pickle Bottom  have teamed up to bring you this fabulous giveaway for the newly released, Hideaway Hobo Diaper Bag.

Petunia Pickle Bottom is a brand that focuses on modern motherhood. They have become known as the creator of the original, collectible, fashionable diaper bag. Why should you have to sacrifice style and sophistication just because you become a mom. DeNai Jones, is the founding designer and inspiration behind the company’s name. Inspired by travel, architecture, vintage textiles and a desire to bring style and sophistication to the world of modern parenting, Petunia Pickle Bottom’s bold graphic prints have become the signature of their collections, season after season.

Newly released, just this month, is the Hideaway Hobo, and it comes in some lovely new prints, including a couple new signature prints. We received the Hideaway Hobo Review in the gorgeous Signature Print London Mist. It’s no surprise that I love Petunia Pickle Bottom as I continuously work with them throughout the year. They are always exceptional with their quality and have the most practical products for any mom.

Upon receiving the new Hideaway Hobo, I was excited because of the generous size. I also particularly like this new signature jacquard print because the material is a bit softer than others I have tried in the past like the glazed or embossed prints. The signature is a bit more forgiving and allows you to really pack this bag! It REALLY holds a ton, especially with all of the pockets to organize everything.

Inside are 4 pockets along with 2 side bottle pockets. On the outside is a pocket with a zipper. I love all of the pockets for organization. On the top is a magnetic closure which works great. Here’s everything I was able to fit in my Hideaway Hobo Diaper bag with PLENTY of room to spare:
3 Diapers
Wipes Case/Changing Pad
2 Cell phones
PPB Beginnings Baby Book
PPB Powder Room Case
Change Purse
Small Wristlet Make Up Bag
(and I had room for 2 bottles/cups)

Also included is a monogrammed wipes case and a changing pad. The chain on this bag is something new we haven’t seen from Petunia Pickle Bottom before, and I actually really love the look. It is a bit hard to open your bag all of the way to be able to see inside because they are connected as one piece. I would like to see them independently connected maybe in the future for ease of use of the bag.

HideawayHobo Detail
The bottom of the bag is stiffened so it will stand easily without slouching over, which is a must need with the soft jacquard fabric. I really would have liked to see metal feet on the bottom of this bag though for it to stand on just so the bottom doesn’t get stained. As you can see there is beautiful polished hardware and metal chain to match the bag. I love the detail of this as it’s so different from other Petunia Pickle Bottom Bags. The hidden pocket in front with the zipper closure is great as it’s easy to get to, personally I like storing my cell phone there as it’s easy to get to and hear if it rings.

  • Spacious main compartment with 4 large open pockets and 2 side bottle pockets
  • Hidden front exterior zippered pocket
  • Top magnetic snap closure
  • PPB-monogrammed plastic wipes case and coordinating changing pad
  • Custom-stamped premium hardware
  • 2 handles for shoulder carrying, made of vegan leather and polished metal chain
  • PVC-Free woven cotton/poly-blend fabric exterior with vegan leather trim

  • 15”W x 14” H x 6”D
  • Strap drop: 9.5”

The Hideaway Hobo is available in 10 different prints! See website for all prints available in Signature, Glazed, and Embossed.

The Hideaway Hobo is a bag I highly recommend if you will be packing it full. If you don’t have a lot to fill the bag it will sort of slump over and become a bit slouchy in the signature fabric, the glazed is shaped more so that would be a better choice. The London Mist Signature Print has a black interior which I did think it was kind of hard to find things if you didn’t remember where you put it, if you have a designated spot for your items and can remember (which I can’t), then it’s really not an issue. All in all I really recommend this bag as it allows you to pack a lot for baby/toddler. It’s great quality and a thick material that is built to last.
