20 Fun Ideas for Summer Break

SummerBreak(This is my 2 year old on the beach in Cozumel, Sept 2013.)

School is almost out for the upcoming Summer, which means you will need to entertain your children! I know it’s always hard coming up with ideas of things to do, so I have come up with a list of ideas! Sometimes during the summer vacation I forget some things to do, and I tend to always look towards the internet to help me think of ideas!

1. Have a picnic.
2. Play at the park.
3. Go to a splash pad, water park, or beach.
4. Go to the movies. There’s usually summer movies in the morning time for kids, check out your local theater and see if they have a program.
5. Vacation Bible School.
6. Summer camp.
7. Have a play date with friends.
8. Visit a museum.
9. Have a craft day. (perfect for rainy days!)
10. Have a pool day at home. If you don’t have a pool, go buy a kiddy pool. You’ll be surprised how fun they are, you may even join your kids!
11. Play in the sprinklers.
12. Play in the puddles/mud if it’s a rainy day!
13. Have a movie day! (Another great idea for a rainy day!)
14. Bake something.
15. Go for a walk/hike.
16. Have a party!
17. Go shopping!
18. Have a cleaning day. This is a good opportunity for your children to go through their toys and donate to the needy.
19. Volunteer at a dog shelter or nursing home.
20. Plan a vacation.

I know there are a ton more things to do, but this is just a quick go to list for vacation during the summer. Hopefully you can come up with something to do if you’re falling short on activities.

This is a great list that has all the bases covered! My daughter isn't in school yet, so we don't really have a summer break, but I try to plan special things around that time because her cousin's are out of school and her aunts, uncles, and grandparents can take time off work. I really like the idea of having a cleaning day! What about a car washing day to go along with it?

I do a lot of these with my kids but it's still not good enough. I don't think my 8 yr old realizes how much we actually do and how much I actually spend on her.
