When I was pregnant with my first child, I was obsessed with buying everything. Anything and everything, but when it comes down to it, babies are simple. They don’t need everything. Thankfully I learned this and by the time it was time for our second child we were almost set with everything because they don’t need all that much. There are a handful of things you need, but other than that you don’t need all those gadgets, wipe warmers, crib bumpers, etc. That’s why I have come up with a very short list of must haves for every baby.
Diapers– Whether you (or the woman you’re buying for) use disposables or cloth, buy different sizes. Don’t just stick to newborn sizes. Most children won’t wear newborn sizes for more than just a couple weeks. Babies grow FAST. Buy all different sizes. If you’re purchasing diapers for a baby shower grab a pack of size 2 or 3 for the expecting mom.
Diaper Bag– Get a nice diaper bag. I recommend ones that look like purses, just because it still allows you to be modern and fashionable. You will need a good size bag to carry around everything while out with baby. You need something to fit diapers, wipes, bottles (if you formula feed), nursing cover (if you breastfeed), two changes of clothes for baby, a shirt for you (yes, you will thank me later), and then of course all of your essentials.
Pack N Play, Bassinet, or Rock N Play Sleeper– Get something to let baby sleep in, in your bedroom. This will allow you more sleep and it’s something I recommend for the first 4-6 months. Being able to be close to baby and make feedings and diaper changes easy, fast, and it’s convenient.
Nursing Pillow– Even if you are not nursing this is an exceptional product to have. You can let baby sleep on it, prop baby up, it can help you in breastfeeding, or even help you hold baby if you’re sore from delivery.
SootheTime Fresh Air Crib Liner– Do not buy those bulky cutesy bumpers for babies crib. They are a health hazard, instead buy this amazing SootheTime Fresh Air Crib Liner. Designed for your baby to sleep safely and you to sleep soundly. The Fresh Air Crib Liner is adjustable to fit most cribs, locking in place a mesh liner that provides fresh airflow for a safe sleep. I would love to win this for my daughter. She has just started using her crib and is constantly sticking her arms and legs through the bars! Not good!

Initially I thought that using traditional bumpers would be fine, my mom used them with all of us and we turned out fine. Once I had LO though, I realized that I worried way more about things like SIDS/suffocation that I ever thought I would. I ended up just getting rid of the bumpers all-together, these would be great and would keep me from worrying and having to run across the house at least once a night to get an arm or leg un-stuck!

Just recently found out we aren't supposed to be using those pretty bumper pads. My daughter had her first baby six weeks ago. Gonna have to put away those pretty bumper pads and this would be a great replacement! Thxs for the opprotunity.
