There are so many people uninsured in the United States, and to be completely honest, our family is uninsured. I was recently contacted by Get Covered America about opportunities for health insurance and thought I’d share them with you because I think there’s a lot out there that not everyone knows about! Affordable health insurance is right at your finger tips with Get Covered America. More than half of all uninsured Americans can get covered for just under $100 a month. 4 in 5 people, who have already signed up, got help paying for their insurance.  The uninsured are exposed to significant financial risk from medical issues, accidents or emergencies. Even young and healthy individuals are at-risk. One trip to the emergency room for a broken arm or a bad ear infection could cost thousands of dollars. That is why it’s so important to have health insurance.

Open enrollment is set to begin again in the fall, but special enrollment is ongoing.  As with other elements of the health care law, many of those eligible for coverage don’t understand all the details.

While the Health Insurance Marketplaces don’t open until November 15th, certain “qualifying life events” (like getting married, having a baby, adopting a child, moving, losing your current health insurance, losing insurance when you turn 26 if you were covered under a parent’s healthcare plan, losing insurance after graduation if you were covered under your college’s healthcare plan,  and more) could allow you to get covered now.

Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) remain available to everyone eligible throughout the year. But people can also enroll if they’ve had a “qualifying life event” — meaning they’ve gotten married or divorced, had a baby, adopted a child, placed a child up for adoption, moved residences, gained citizenship, left incarceration, graduated from college or lost their health coverage. In most cases, once such an event occurs, a person has a 60-day window to get coverage.

If you have questions about healthcare enrollment, watch this video for more helpful information:

Financial help is available. In fact, over half of Americans under 35 could get covered for under $50 a month!  More than half of all uninsured Americans can get covered for under $100 a month. And 4 in 5 people, who have already signed up, got help paying for their insurance. Use the “Get Covered Calculator” to see how much help you could qualify for to cover your monthly insurance cost below.

If you or a family member are without insurance, it’s important to spread the word about Get Covered America. You can connect with Get Covered America on Facebook and Twitter as well. Make sure you check out the options they have available for you and your family members. It’s so important to have health insurance coverage and Get Covered America can help you obtain coverage!

I don't like all of these new laws. It makes everything more more expensive for everyone else. Also, I was under the impression that the Dr. patient relationship was just that. Not so anymore.

I think a lot of the 'confusion' is misinformation/lack of facts. I'm glad to see you're offering information and helping to educate.

With as many Glaring security issues in the code & The fact that the back end STILL has not been addressed, I would steer clear of anything this has to offer, unless you dont mind all your personal info being available to your average teen hacker with even basic knowledge of code.. Good luck...
