Potty Train? Yikes! As a parent, it’s no secret that potty training your toddler is one of the most daunting and possibly most stressful tasks we have. Now I’ve heard how easy it is for some, that their children potty train themselves, and while you are in the minority (and I dislike you very much), my second child has been by far the MOST stubborn child EVER when it comes to potty training.
I could almost bet my life on it. She turned 3 just a few months ago and we have been trying and trying with potty training, but just nothing seemed to work, so finally I decided THAT’S IT, we are doing this hardcore and there’s no turning back!
We headed to our local grocery store where they have a wide variety of a selection to choose from for Pull-Ups® products whether you have a girl or a boy. They had a very special potty training package, a Pull-Ups® Starter Kit with Doc McStuffins as the star, and my toddler opted for that one, which I didn’t mind as it included some extras too!
We headed home with our new Pull-Ups® Starter Kit and immediately checked out everything it contained. I made sure to talk everything over with my (stubborn) toddler and let her know that the very next day we would REALLY be concentrating on our potty training and that Pull-Ups® with Doc McStuffins, Ariel, and Minnie Mouse would be helping us through it!
She was super excited, so I was hoping this would be our answer for getting her potty trained, believe me, I was crossing my fingers and toes.
I don’t know if the Pull-Ups training pants Starter Kit is available at all stores (they also had a Jake and the Neverland Pirates theme too), but just in case you were wondering what was inside, it includes: Pull-Ups training pants, BigKid wipes, progress chart, stickers, free Disney digital book, and a coupon book.
Five Potty Training Tips
1. Don’t Push Them– I know some people who think 18 months, or 24 months or 30 months is the magic number to start potty training. Let me tell you, there is NO magic number. WAIT until they start showing signs. Wait until they can hold it, and go on the potty. Forcing them is just going to cause a lot of issues, believe me.
2. Introduce the Potty Early– Have a potty in your house from the time they learn to walk. Let them get acquainted with it and used to it being around. I find letting them sit on it naked every night before bath, or whenever you use the bathroom is a good time to let them see how it is. Don’t force anything, just let them sit there, or play or whatever they want to do. Let them be curious about it.
3. Slowly Ease Into It– If they are showing signs, slowly ease into it. Encourage them to go in the mornings after they get up, before nap time, after nap time, before bath/bed. Praise them if they go, if they don’t, then so be it. Just be easy and slow about it. It WILL come to them. Give it time.
4. 3 Day Method– IF your child is ready and is showing lots of signs and can communicate and hold his/her bathroom functions, take 3 days of staying at home to concentrate on potty training and nothing else. Give LOTS to drink, and have a couple potties out. We usually have one in each bathroom, so bring one into your living room and one into the bathroom. Have them close by, and make it fun! DON’T push, just let it be casual and reward them! PAY ATTENTION to their cues. Keep an eye on the time and head to the bathroom every 30-45 minutes or so. You can even have a potty in your living room, whatever works, just do it!
5. Pull-Ups® training pants– Make it FUN for your child. Pull-Ups® training pants come in such cute designs with the characters they love, they will be just so happy to be wearing them and potty training! They were the magic key to successfully potty training!
Pull-Ups® training pants are available in the following sizes: 2T–3T (18- 34 lbs.); 3T–4T (32–40 lbs.) and 4T–5T (38+ lbs.).
There are new designs featuring Doc McStuffins and Ariel for girls as well as Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Lightning McQueen for boys.
There are also three different kinds of gender and size specific training pants that include: Cool Alert®, Learning Designs®, Night*Time Training Pants, all from Pull-Ups®, so you’re sure to find a product you need specifically for your child.
My daughter LOVES Minnie Mouse! We also love how well Pull-Ups® training pants fit and are nice and soft! Kids needs to be comfortable, especially while potty training.
One of my favorite apps for potty training is actually the Pull-Ups® Time to Potty App! It keeps you and your child accountable for remembering to go and it can adjust based on your child’s age as well as their progress too!
Time to Potty even has fun games to celebrate potty breaks, not only that it tracks your child’s progress week after week. This is a great app not only for the little ones, but us as parents/caregivers as well. It’s definitely an app that I recommend! It’s available in the Google Play Store or The App Store.

Pullups are fantastic products. I think it really helps during the transition from diapers. Kids feel like big kids and are ready to not be in diapers anymore.

I love this product. I think pull ups give kids a sense of security rather than moving from diapers to plain underwear. They can mange them by themselves with a bit of practice, and they also come with great designs.
