It’s So Important to Make Time For Yourself to Read & a Giveaway – ends 5/12

This is an advertisement for SheSpeaks/St. Martins Press.

These days we are always go go go, just busy all the time, but for why? Slow down. There’s no reason to be in a rush. One of my most favorite things these days is reading. I find it brings me calmness, lets me relax, and believe it or not, reading increases your vocabulary, so it may be a mental thing for me, but reading makes me feel smarter.

  1. Take a bubble bath, drink a glass of wine, and read.
  2. Take your kids to the park and bring your book.
  3. Read while waiting in the kids school pick up line.
  4. Bring your book to your kids sports activity/practice.
  5. Take 30 minutes to yourself per day just to go somewhere quiet to read.

I was recently sent a copy of The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, a historical fiction novel, which is SO good. I seriously have it in my purse and I read it every where I go. It’s about the relationship between two sisters during World War II and their reactions to situations, which they most certainly don’t agree on. The story is set in France with sisters Vianne and Isabelle, one of which goes off to  The author Hannah, creates all twists and turns in this book with love and loss, strength and secrets, just everything you want in a book that keeps you guessing and keeps you reading. The World War II time period has always been interesting to me since History class in high school, so this book was very intriguing. The most important thing you have to remember when reading this is it is fiction. It obviously adds in a lot of the real history, but it’s not a true story. Nonetheless, reading about the two sisters and their involvement when France was taken over by the Nazi’s, is intriguing and will keep you interested. Isabelle has a fire in her while Vianne is the more cautious one, so they couldn’t be anymore different. I don’t want to give too much away, so you’ll have to pick up a copy yourself at Barnes and Noble or enter to win below!

The paperback version was just released April 25th, and we’re hosting a giveaway for two winners to each receive a copy for themselves. You can also purchase The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah on Amazon.

I really enjoy reading. I probably read a couple of books a week along with my Bible reading and Christian self help books. I also am encouraging my grandchildren to do the same. Thank you so much for sharing this. God Bless

I also have been interested in the World War II time period. a book about two sisters in that time period does sound good.

I've read a good many of her books and they are always so good. She makes me think about things in a different perspective than normally I would. I read one positive review about this book and another review said it was good but went along with another story she knew. I would like to form my own opinion.
