Everything Mommyhood received complimentary tickets to the Night Safari in exchange for this posting. All thoughts and opinions are those of our own.
Over the summer, my family and I went to quite a bit of attractions across different cities and states. The one that stood out the most was our trip to the T.I.G.E.R.S. Night Safari with Doc Antle’s Myrtle Beach Safari. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my entire lifetime and I would highly recommend it. This is nothing like a trip to the zoo, or one of those drive through safari parks. Visiting the night safari is truly a once in a lifetime experience. I attended with my boyfriend and his two daughters, and they all loved this night safari so much.
The night safari tour is approximately 3 hours long. There is a lot of walking and standing involved as well as interaction with animals of all kinds such as tigers, chimpanzees, elephants, owls, wolves, and more. You will also receive a light dinner and drink refreshments. This is not an event for small children, as only children 6 and older are allowed. I suggest taking your children once they are older and can really appreciate this, as it will be something they will remember forever.
Night Safari – The Experience
Once we arrived at the location given to us by email (it’s not publicized for the protection of the animals and the preserve), we all filled out paper work acknowledging that anything could happen since we would be interacting with live animals. After every one in the group is all signed in, we all got to drive our vehicles in and park in a closed off and locked fenced in area. You can’t bring anything into the location with you, purses, cell phones, etc. None of that is allowed. They want you to truly have an amazing experience and not be distracted in any way.
After everyone was parked and inside the meeting house, we went over a lot of things about the animals, watched a few videos to learn about the preservation and what it’s all about. Next we got together with our own group of families, so they could keep track of photos taken that night. We had the photo package, so for them to have our name and group was important. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the photo package as you will receive an 8×10 of your favorite photo as well as a CD with every single photo taken of your family during the entire event, which will be over 100 excellent quality photos. You will also have the option to purchase more photos.
Next we headed on out to our first event of the evening. We were introduced to all of the large tigers, and we got to see the trainers feed all of them. After that we headed down and had a light dinner which was nice as it was a lot of great finger foods such as bbq sliders, chicken salad croissants, mozzarella tomato bites, queso and tortilla cups, olives, crackers, and a few more things. They offered drinks as well such as Coca Cola, Sprite, beer, and wine. During this, there were windows around us with the tigers roaming around. At this dinner you also were given the option to feed the tigers yourself through a small tube in the window.
After, we went out to the courtyard area and we got to interact with so many of the animals. My favorite was Bubbles the elephant. I absolutely love elephants. I have never been so happy being able to pet an elephant, hug its trunk, give a little tug to its ear, and feed her an apple. It was the most amazing thing! You can just see it in my face how happy I am, and my boyfriend too.
We also got to take pictures with all of the adorable and oh so soft tiger cubs, they are just the absolute cutest things and I seriously wanted to take one home for the night. The girls loved taking their pictures with them and interacting with them too.
The tiger cubs were just so cuddly, we got to interact with a few different sets of them that they brought out for us to pet as well.
Not only did we get to pet and interact with tiger cubs, but they brought out quite a few more animals as well. A wolf, parrot, owl, lion, and a monkey. My boyfriend Dwayne, he has always loved wolves, so I thought this was such an amazing experience for him to be able to pet and take a picture with one in real life.
Emma is 9 years old, and she absolutely adores monkeys, so she was ecstatic to be able to hold one on her lap. Her sister Charlotte enjoyed it so much as well.
After spending over an hour interacting with all of the animals, we got to sit down around a fire and roast marshmallows for smores, and roast hot dogs as well. The most exciting part is, we were doing this with chimpanzees! The girls thought this was the coolest thing, being able to roast items with an actual chimp!
I could show you guys 100 pictures I love from this whole experience, but we’d be here all day. I truly can’t say it enough, that hands down, this is a once in a lifetime experience. You must go see this. Your entire family will truly love this entire experience.
