I’ve been a huge fan of hummus for the past few years now. Up until recently, I finally decided to start making it at home. It’s so easy to change up too! If you want a different flavor like roasted garlic, you can roast some garlic and add it in. If you’re looking for roasted red pepper hummus, you can easily roast some red peppers and add them into it as well. I like mine a little spicy, so when I make hummus, I not only add cayenne, but I add a squirt or two of Sriracha. There’s so many options, and hummus is so versatile, you can change it up with however you’re wanting to! It’s SUPER easy to make, and so much cheaper than buying it pre-made.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons lemon juice or juice from 2-3 lemons
1/4 cup water
6 tablespoons tahini, stirred well
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 (14-ounce) can chick peas, drained and rinsed
1 small garlic clove, minced or pressed through garlic press (about 1/2 teaspoon)
1/2 teaspoon table salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
Pinch cayenne (You can add more if you like it spicy, or leave it out altogether if you dont’ like it.)
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley leaves
Directions:
– Combine lemon juice and water in small bowl then whisk together tahini and 2 tablespoons oil in second small bowl or measuring cup.
– Drain and rinse your chick peas.
– Process chickpeas, garlic, salt, cumin, and cayenne in food processor (you can also use a blender like a Ninja, Blendtec, or Vitamix) until almost fully ground, about 15 seconds or so.
– Scrape down the bowl with rubber spatula to get all ingredients to bottom. With the machine running, add lemon juice-water mixture in steady stream.
– Scrape down bowl again and continue to process/blend for 1 minute. With machine running, add oil & tahini mixture in a steady stream through feed tube, continue to process until hummus is smooth and creamy, about 15 seconds, scraping down bowl as needed.
– Transfer hummus to serving bowl sprinkle parsley over surface, cover with plastic wrap, and let stand until flavors meld, at least 30 minutes. You can even place in refrigerator over night.
– Enjoy with veggies, crackers, in a pita, on a sandwich or any other way you wish!

This sounds like how I make hummus, except I typically cook the beans, too. I like making my own, and it tastes great, I just made a big batch last weekend!

Hummus is one of my favorite dips, it is way better than ranch or sour cream. I never made some before, I better try soon.

I adore making hummus. It's nice with cilantro added, or roasted red peppers.

I love hummus but each brand I've tried is different. Some have too much lemon or garlic. Thanks for this recipe. It's not exactly what I'm looking for, but close enough. I just need to figure out how to adjust it to suit my taste.
