Recipe: Homemade Orange Sweet Rolls

Orange Rolls photo #2
I remember back when I was a little kid when my mom used to make Sweet Orange Rolls, and as a kid I never really liked them, but as I’ve gotten older they are one of my favorite things, even though I only have them about once a year. My mom always bought the ones in the refrigerated section, and I never really had made from scratch ones until just a few years ago. Let me tell you, if you’ve never made homemade ones, you MUST make this to die for recipe!

There will be a few steps for this recipe with their own ingredients, so make sure you look at each section if you’re going shopping before making them!!!

Ingredients for bread dough:

  • 2 cups warm water (Make sure it’s warm for the yeast, not TOO hot!)
  • 2 TBS yeast
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups flour (add at end)

Directions for dough:
In a large bowl combine the warm water, yeast, sugar, eggs, butter and salt.
Mix well then add (one cup at a time) 6 cups flour.
Warning it will be sticky!
Cover with a tea towel and set aside till doubled in size. ( If you are in a hurry let rise 20 mins other wise let it rise 40 mins).
Punch down dough, roll out onto a floured surface.

In an even layer spread orange filling mixture over the dough.

I have never had anything like this before. Baking with oranges or orange marmalade is not something I grew up with or tried myself. I am intrigued... thank you! I will pass this on to my Mom who is a better baker than me before I attempt this myself. LOL! ;)

This is pretty good. I don't bake, or cook, so I usually end up buying pastry at the store. The problem is that's never as good as freshly baked.
