Say Hello to the NEW Keurig 2.0 K550 Brewing System Review – #HelloKeurig

A few months ago I was sent this wonderful new Keurig 2.0 Brewer to start using, even before it hit the shelves at the stores. My husband and I have really enjoyed using this and it’s my favorite Keurig to date! It has so many amazing features, and I can’t wait to tell you all about them! This is for sure to be a HOT Holiday gift this Christmas!

Let me start off by saying, this is a LARGE Keurig machine, so make sure you have ample counter space. Not that it’s a bad thing, and it’s pretty big because of the water reservoir and the ability to hold a carafe instead of just using a mug for coffee, tea, etc. We had plenty of room and immediately threw our other Keurig to the side. We fell in love with the Keurig 2.o.

Upon receiving my large box addressed just to me from Keurig, I was ecstatic to find all of the contents. Not only did they send me the Keurig 2.0 Brewing System, they also sent an abundant supply of K-Cups and Carafe Cups as well as the Thermal Carafe. The Keurig 2.0 already comes with a Carafe, but it’s just black plastic.

When you purchase the Keurig 2.0 K550 here’s what is included:

• Keurig 4-cup Carafe
• 6 K-Cup packs
• 4 K-Carafe packs
• Water filter handle
• Water filter cartridge

I wanted to show you the large variety of different coffees, teas, apple cider, and hot cocoa that I received. I know a lot of people I have talked to thought that Keurig brewers were only for coffee, but that is so not the case. In fact, I didn’t start drinking coffee at all until recently. I have always been a big tea drinker, hot cocoa, or apple cider. Not only does the Keurig brew these hot beverages, but you can also brew over ice! If you notice the purple/blue K-Cup, it’s actually a Sweet & Creamy Nutty Hazlenut Iced Coffee. You just brew it over ice and it’s ready to drink, you don’t have to add anything else to it.

Now for setting up your Keurig 2.0, it’s rather easy. It comes with a manual that’s very easy to read. All you have to do is insert the filter and plastic holder into the water reservoir, fill the water up, and set up the time/wallpaper/color LED lights. It really took me less than 5 minutes.

As for adding in your K-cups or K-Carafe Cups, I’m sure you’re asking how do they fit? The chamber where you place them looks like it will only fit the actual K-cup, but it expands just perfectly for the K-Carafe cup! Your Keurig will automatically know what cup you have in.

Once you place a K-Cup (or K-Carafe Cup) in and close the chamber, your Keurig will preheat the water. You just follow the directions on the touch screen for how many ounces you want, which essentially will make your coffee lighter or stronger depending on how many ounces you want. You can choose from 4oz, 6oz, 8oz, and 10oz for a mug, or 32 oz to 48 oz for the Carafe.

Note: You can not use a reusable K-cup and you can not use any K-cups without the Keurig logo on them. The machine reads the K-Cup itself.

Once your water is preheated and your ounces are chosen for your mug or carafe, it will start brewing. I was rather impressed on how quickly it brewed too!

It takes less than a minute to brew a mug of coffee (tea or whatever you make)! That’s pretty quick and there’s nothing like fresh coffee from a Keurig. I just added some sugar and creamer and it was time to sit down on my patio and enjoy the peace and quiet with a nice hot mug of coffee.

Now I forgot to tell you, you can actually just get hot water directly from the Keurig 2.0 once it’s heated too. This is perfect in the kitchen when you’re needing a cup or two of hot water. You don’t have to heat any up separately!

When the weekend came along hubby and I tried out the Carafe and it was perfect. It brews 4 cups of coffee, but for us that’s two large mugs of coffee which is just perfect for us! My hubby said he loved the carafe feature of the Keurig 2.0 as well as I do too!

Now a couple other features of the Keurig 2.0 Brewing System that I LOVE are the fact you can change the wallpaper of the touch screen and you can also change the color of the LED lights where the water reservoir is. They can be red, blue, green, or white. I change them up all the time. Another awesome bonus about the lights is, this Keurig actually lets you set up if you want to use the lights as a nightlight. You can set a time for them to turn on and when to turn off. You can also set a time for your Keurig to preheat the water for when you wake up, you can automatically go in and brew your favorite coffee or tea!

All in all, I’m very very happy with the Keurig 2.0 and I actually have no complaints about the machine at all. I have heard some people aren’t happy that the machine doesn’t take generic brand K-cups, but that isn’t an issue for us. There are 100s of different brands available with the Keurig logo.
