March of Dimes has been around for as long as I can remember. If you don’t know what or who March of Dimes is, they are a non-profit organization that helps raise money to provide support for pregnant mothers and babies. Kmart, is the top corporate fundraiser for the March of Dimes and has been for 32 consecutive years. Kmart has raised more than $125 million over the past 31 years to help advance the critical work being done by March of Dimes on behalf of newborns. That is such an impressive number.

Each year the March of Dimes holds the March for Babies® walks, which will take place this Spring in 700 communities across the country. You can donate and you can walk to support this great cause.

So let me tell you why March of Dimes is near and dear to my heart. I learned about March of Dimes as a teenager when a dear friend of mine had a very premature baby fighting for her life at just 30 weeks old. It was such an emotional experience, especially at that age, as I never thought about premature babies as a naive teenager. It’s emotional for anyone to handle, but seeing this precious little baby fighting for her life made me want to do more than just witness her fighting.  I wanted to be involved in supporting all premature babies across the country. I wanted to help make a difference. That’s when the St. Petersburg Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL told me about the March of Dimes program and how they held the March for Babies walks each Spring. I knew from then on, I would be supporting the March of Dimes.

Kmart has teamed up with fitness expert Jillian Michaels to kick off their 2015 fundraising campaign. Kmart is a national sponsor of the annual March for Babies walks. The funds raised by Kmart and communities across the country helps support teams of scientists that are continuously working at five March of Dimes Prematurity Research Centers to discover the causes of premature birth and develop treatments.

Now I’m sure you’re wondering how you can donate with Kmart.com/March of Dimes. To help support the March of Dimes, you can easily donate to the March of Dimes online or in store at your local Kmart. 100% of your donation will benefit the March of Dimes. Along with that, you can also purchase Kmart’s collectible puppy figurine for $5 and $1 of your purchase will be donated to the cause.
